Princess Kako, Bound for Peru, Stranded in Houston Again Due to Trouble with Aircraft (Update 1)

HOUSTON — A commercial flight meant to carry Princess Kako to Peru was canceled on Wednesday due to mechanical problems at a Houston airport shortly before takeoff.

Princess Kako, the second daughter of Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, had departed from Houston for Lima on a different flight earlier in the day, but that plane was forced to return to the airport after a radar malfunction was detected about an hour after takeoff.

The princess was transferred to another aircraft, but it was found to have equipment problems and returned to the apron.

Princess Kako is expected to travel to Lima on a Thursday afternoon flight.
