LDP Secures ‘Absolute Majority,’ Enabling It to Dominate All Committee Chair Posts

The Liberal Democratic Party secured at least 261 seats in the House of Representatives election on Sunday, enabling the party to dominate all committee chairperson posts and also have a majority in all standing committees. In Japanese politics, a majority this strong is called an “absolute majority.”
