Snow-Covered Square Illuminated in Blue in Towada, Aomori Prefecture

TOWADA, Aomori — An annual illumination event is lighting up a snow-covered square in front of Towada Art Center in Towada, Aomori Prefecture.

Arts Towada Winter Illumination has been organized by the Towada city government every winter since 2010. About 240,000 blue LEDs illuminate the square, and visitors are taking photos of the lights and enjoying artwork.

“The entire space was beautifully covered in blue, so I feel relaxed,” a visitor from Saitama said.

The event will be held through Feb. 22.
