Japan Election: Fifth of Voters Cast Ballot Early, in Slight Rise (Update 1)

More than 20 million voters cast their ballot early in the House of Representatives election over the 11 days from Oct. 16 — the day after the official start of campaigning — to Oct. 26, according to a report by the Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry.
The ministry issued its report on early voting on Sunday.
According to the report, the number of early voters over the 11-day period rose to 20,955,435, or 20.11% of all registered voters on the electoral roll. That is up by 0.57 percentage points from 19.54% of voters over an 11-day period in the 2021 lower house election.
