All Nippon Airways Co. has resumed maintenance hanger tours at Haneda Airport in Ota Ward, Tokyo, about two years after they were suspended in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Visitors tour the hangar, which can accommodate seven aircraft. Maintenance is performed on airframes and engines there 24 hours a day.
The popular tours resumed on April 4, adding a new exhibition facility where visitors can touch parts and tools.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been here,” said Miho Ogino of Sumida Ward, Tokyo, who participated in the tour for the second time. “It was very enjoyable to see the aircraft up close and experience the sounds of the maintenance process.”
To prevent infection, the total daily number of visitors is being limited to 48 people for the time being, divided into one group in the morning and another in the afternoon on weekdays. Reservations will be accepted up to one month in advance on a dedicated website.
