Morning visitors to Kanda Myojin shrine in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, pray Tuesday, the first official business day after New Year’s. A 60-year-old executive in the food industry in Tokyo’s Setagaya Ward visited the shrine, believed to benefit businesses, as part of a group of seven from his company. It was the first time in two years during the COVID-19 pandemic the company has visited the shrine, and he said the group hopes the entire industry can quickly return to business as usual with a positive start to the year.
