TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz agreed Tuesday to strengthen bilateral cooperation on nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation.
In their phone talks, Kishida and Scholz also affirmed that Japan and Germany will work together on regional issues, including those related to China and North Korea.
In addition, they agreed to promote deeper bilateral cooperation in the fields of security and defense, including through the agreement concluded in March on the protection of classified security information exchanged between the two countries.
Kishida congratulated Scholz on his inauguration as chancellor earlier this month.
