Japan seeks to host 2nd Quad meeting
November 13, 2021
Japan has reached out to its fellow Quad members — the United States, Australia and India — about possibly holding a second in-person meeting in Japan as early as next spring, according to government officials. The meeting could be U.S. President Joe Biden’s first visit to Japan since taking office this year.
The leaders of the four nations agreed to hold the meetings annually during the first meeting held in Washington in September. The Japanese government hopes to use a second summit meeting of the Quad, typically led by Japan and the U.S., to strengthen economic and security cooperation with an eye on China.
