Japan Innovation Party co-leader Fumitake Fujita said Wednesday that if the JIP enters coalition talks with the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito, it would prioritize agreeing on policies over coordinating single-seat constituency candidates.

“It does not make sense to put elections and our own positions first,” he said at a press conference. “We want to be a party that focuses on realizing policies.”

The JIP and the LDP and Komeito coalition contested seats in all 19 single-seat constituencies in Osaka Prefecture during last year’s House of Representatives election.
