Three strong earthquakes struck the eastern Shimane Prefecture, recording maximums of 4 to upper 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7, from around 10:18 a.m. to around 10:37 a.m. Tuesday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
