Nursing Care Worker Numbers Fall to 2.13 Million; Demand is Growing Higher, but Pay Remains Low

The number of nursing care workers nationwide fell to 2.126 million in fiscal 2023, down by 28,000 from the previous year to mark the first decline since the long-term care insurance system started in fiscal 2000, according to a Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry survey.
