The iconic Nakamise street in the Asakusa district of Tokyo is packed with visitors on Tuesday. The shopping area leading to Sensoji temple has been decorated to welcome the New Year with ornaments, including an ema wooden tablet depicting a tiger, the Chinese zodiac animal for 2022.
