Emperor Emeritus visits biological research institute

The Emperor Emeritus, who has been diagnosed with right heart failure, visited on Friday the biological research institute at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo where he has conducted his longtime research on fish species.
Shortly after 10 a.m., the Emperor Emeritus, 88, opened a window and waved to people along the road as his car entered the Imperial Palace via the Hanzomon gate.
On July 24, the Emperor Emeritus was diagnosed with the heart condition, caused by a faulty valve. He reportedly is receiving medication and generally carrying on with his everyday life.
