Catholics and those belonging to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine came together and prayed for peace in Ukraine at Sekiguchi Catholic Church in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, on Wednesday.
About 100 people, including Ukrainians living in Japan and Japanese, gathered for the prayer service.
Archbishop Tarcisius Isao Kikuchi of Tokyo and Father Paul Koroluk of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine lit candles and placed them on the altar before offering their prayers.
“I hope we can find a way to solve the problem,” Kikuchi said to the congregation.
