BUENOS AIRES — About 4 million fans filled the streets of Buenos Aires on Tuesday during a parade to mark the Argentina soccer’s team victory at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where the Argentines lifted the trophy for the first time in 36 years.
So many people swarmed around the open-top bus carrying the team that the parade came to a standstill, forcing the team to abandon the vehicle.
The players ended up boarding helicopters for a victory flyover as fans assembled around the obelisk in the city center, singing, dancing, waving flags and setting off firecrackers with photos of Messi in their hands.
