WAJIMA, Ishikawa — Soba, a traditional New Year’s Eve dish, was served to residents of a temporary housing complex in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture, on Tuesday.
The residents’ association of the temporary housing complex, which houses those who were affected by the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake, prepared 150 servings that came with handmade toppings such as fried fish cake.
“I feel so content to laugh and eat with everyone,” said a 78-year-old resident whose home was severely damaged by the quake. “I feel like next year will be a good year.”
