The “Jewellumination” attraction at Yomiuriland amusement park welcomed its 5-millionth visitor Tuesday.
Crackers sounded at the gate as part-time worker Natsumi Kitamura, 25, arrived with her family of four from Yokohama. Kitamura was given a bouquet of flowers and annual park passes for her whole family.
The winter illumination event is now in its 13th season since launching in November 2010. About 6.5 million LED bulbs adorn the park, which straddles Inagi, Tokyo, and Kawasaki.
“I came to the park because I wanted my kids to see the lights,” Kitamura said. “I’m amazed. I’m sure we’ll be coming again many times with our annual passes.”
The current iteration of Jewellumination runs until April 9.
