Lviv National Opera to hold online concerts to raise money for Ukraine
17:30 JST, May 6, 2022
LVIV, Ukraine — The Lviv National Opera, which had been closed since Russia invaded Ukraine, will resume performances, starting with an online concert for charity on Friday. It will be available to stream in 32 countries, including Japan.
The proceeds from the charity project “Together With Ukraine” — a series of online concerts — will be used to support the country in various ways, including purchasing resuscitation equipment for medical facilities.
The show on Friday will include a conductor, whose parents were killed by the Russian military, and dancers from the war-torn city of Mariupol, where many people have been killed by shelling.
The livestream will be available at 8 p.m. on Friday (2 a.m. on Saturday in Japan), and tickets can be purchased for €7 (about ¥960) on the theater’s website.
