Toyota Motor Corp. on Wednesday unveiled a prototype of its LF-ZC electric car at a Japan Mobility Show press preview; the firm plans to market the next-generation vehicle in 2026.
The industry event — formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show — will officially open on Thursday at Tokyo Big Sight in Koto Ward, Tokyo.
Toyota is aiming for the LF-ZC model — part of its high-end Lexus brand series — to have a range of about 1,000 kilometers, which is double the distance for standard electric vehicles.
The firm has increased the energy density of the lithium-ion battery for the car, and the vehicle is fitted with numerous cutting-edge technologies, including Toyota’s original software, Arene OS.
Toyota will also exhibit prototypes of new sport utility vehicles and a next-generation electric minivan.
It will be the first time in four years for the event to be held since the previous edition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The show will be open to the press and invited guests until Friday, while the general public can enter from Saturday to Nov. 5.
Domestic and overseas automakers are slated to exhibit their latest models, including electric vehicles and flying cars.
