Budapest — Hakim Sani Brown finished sixth in the men’s 100 meters final at the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest on Sunday, recording a time of 10.04 seconds in no wind. He matched the highest ranking ever achieved by a Japanese athlete in the event of Takayoshi Yoshioka who placed sixth at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. This is an all-time best for Japanese participants across both the Olympics and the World Championships. Sani Brown finished seventh in the 2022 World Championships. On the same day, during the semifinals, Sani Brown recorded a time tying with his personal best of 9.97 seconds with a tailwind of 0.3 meters.
American Noah Lyles won the event with a time of 9.83 seconds.
