Japan’s historic victory against Germany at the 2022 Qatar World Cup brought fans to their feet at Tokyo Dome City in the capital’s Bunkyo Ward on Wednesday.
Fans clad in Samurai Blue soccer shirts filled public viewing sites across Japan, including Theatre Grosso in Tokyo Dome City, where about 750 supporters erupted in joy at the final whistle.
“I wasn’t sure what would happen in the first half of the match, but the team turned the game around beautifully,” said a 25-year-old fan from Adachi Ward, Tokyo. “It’s very emotional. I’m lost for words.”
