Govt Sets Up Taskforce to Aid Rebuilding in Noto; Prime Minister Stresses Unity in Overcoming Obstacles

The government set up a taskforce Monday to support rebuilding work in the areas affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, and held an inauguration ceremony in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture.
More than 150 officials dispatched from related ministries and agencies will be stationed at a base for the taskforce in Wajima to accelerate rebuilding work.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida attended the inauguration ceremony at Noto Airport in Wajima on Monday morning. “Government offices will work together to solve obstacles for rebuilding,” he said.
On June 21, Kishida announced at a press conference that the taskforce would be set up. Officials from ministries and agencies, the prefecture, and cities and towns in the prefecture will work with related organizations in a wide range of areas, including restoring fishing ports, rebuilding the lives of disaster victims, and speeding up the publicly funded removal of buildings damaged by the quake.
