A commemorative event will be held at the National Stadium in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, on July 23 to mark the one-year anniversary of the opening of the Tokyo Games.
Japan won a record-high 27 gold medals in the Tokyo Olympics.
Most of the Games’ events were closed to the public due to the coronavirus pandemic, but athletes and volunteers will parade in front of about 20,000 spectators on July 23.
The metropolitan government is organizing the commemorative event in the hope that “the athletes and audience will relive the excitement of a year ago.”
