13:56 JST, April 19, 2022
ICHIKAI, Tochigi — Shibazakura, or pink moss, covers the ground like a meandering river in Ichikai, Tochigi Prefecture. About 200,000 plants in magenta, pink, purple and white are planted over 18,000 square meters in Shibazakura Koen park. The flower carpet is patterned after the Kokaigawa river, which starts near the town. Thanks to mostly good weather this year, the flowers have grown beautifully and will be at their best through the end of this week. Admission through May 5 is ¥300 per person of junior high school age or older.
