Climbers pose for a photo Saturday at the peak of the 2,899-meter Mt. Akadake in the Yatsugatake mountain range straddling Nagano and Yamanashi prefectures during the summer mountain climbing season. Blessed with fine weather, many hiking enthusiasts left the starting point for a climb up the mountain in Chino, Nagano Prefecture, early that morning. At the summit, they took pictures and had lunch while gazing at a panoramic view stretching from Mt. Fuji to the Northern Japanese Alps. “I can forget how tired I am from climbing with the spectacular view,” said Moe Honda, a 27-year-old woman from Kawasaki.
