Playing with Light, Shadows at Kochi Castle; Committee Hopes Evening Event will Boost Winter Visitors
16:17 JST, December 30, 2024
KOCHI — An evening event where visitors can have fun with light and shadows is being held at Kochi Park and Kochi Castle until Jan. 13.
A committee to promote rural Kochi organized Shadow Up Kochi Castle to increase the number of visitors from December to February and revitalize the city’s nighttime economic activity.
At eight different locations, visitors can use special lights to project their shadows onto the castle tower or onto the grounds from the tower. Special glasses are available which make the shadows appear three-dimensional.
“We hope visitors enjoy shadows and light in 3D while taking in the atmosphere of Kochi Castle,” an organizer said.
The event runs between 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Last entry is at 8:30 p.m.) Admission is ¥1500 for adults, ¥900 for junior high and high school students, ¥500 for elementary school students and free for preschool children.
