DUBAI — Expo 2020 Dubai closed Thursday in the United Arab Emirates, having attracted about 23 million visitors since opening in October amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
World Expo 2025 minister Kenji Wakamiya and Osaka Gov. Hirofumi Yoshimura attended the closing ceremony in the evening and received the exposition flag. The World Expo 2025 will be hosted by Osaka Prefecture.
The Japan Pavilion was awarded gold in the exhibition design category for using cutting-edge technology to introduce visitors to Japan’s nature, history and culture.
