The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a heavy rain warning on Wednesday for Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture, where a massive fire broke out following the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on Monday.
The agency is urging caution against landslides as the ground of affected areas may have been loosened due to the earthquake.
Slightly heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning in the prefecture when a low-pressure system is expected to pass near Japan, making the prefecture’s atmospheric conditions unstable.
Expected rainfall during 24-hour period until at 6 a.m. Thursday is 50 millimeters in Ishikawa Prefecture’s Kaga region and 40 millimeters in the prefecture’s Noto region, including Wajima.
