Crown Prince Akishino recently attended the 57th general meeting of the Japan Association of Botanical Gardens in Kakamigahara, Gifu Prefecture.
“I hope botanical gardens across the nation will further strengthen their organic links and enrich their activities more and more,” the crown prince said at the Tuesday meeting. He is patron of the association.
Ahead of the ceremony, the crown prince visited a garden of medicinal plants in the city, and compared the rootstocks of three kinds of plants, including turmeric.
“The colors differ to this extent,” the crown prince said in surprise while taking photos of the plants with his smartphone.
