Imperial succession committee disbands

The committee responsible for Imperial succession events and ceremonies has been disbanded, the Imperial Household Agency announced on Wednesday.
Headed by Yasuhiko Nishimura, grand steward of the agency, the committee was disbanded following the completion of all accession rites, including a visit to the mausoleum of Emperor Showa by Crown Prince Akishino and his wife, Crown Princess Kiko, on Tuesday.
The committee held 11 meetings from October 2018 to October 2020.
