The Yomiuri Shimbun will hold a symposium called “Okinawa’s Past Half Century and Japan’s Future” on May 10 in Naha, ahead of the 50th anniversary of the return of Okinawa to Japan on May 15.
Dr. Michael Jonathan Green, senior vice president for Asia, Japan Chair, and Henry A. Kissinger Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), will give the keynote lecture, which will be followed by panel discussions on two themes, “Strategic Stability in East Asia and Okinawa” and “Development and Promotion of Okinawa from the 51st year on,” to consider models for Okinawa and Japan.
