Aoyama Gakuin wins 6th Ekiden title with new meet record

Aoyama Gakuin University won the Tokyo-Hakone Intercollegiate Ekiden in Tokyo on Monday, earning its sixth victory and first since 2020 in the prestigious two-day road relay race. The team finished the 10-section race, which covers 217.1 kilometers, with a new meet record of 10 hours 43 minutes 42 seconds.
Aoyama Gakuin, which started the second day in first place, ran alone at the top all the way to the goal, finishing 10 minutes 51 seconds ahead of second place.
Juntendo University, an 11-time champion and in fifth place on the first day, finished second. Defending champion Komazawa University placed third. Teikyo University, which was second on the first day, finished ninth.
