The X Games sports competition will be held in Japan for the first time next year, featuring skateboarding, BMX and motocross events from April 22 to 24 at ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba.
Launched in the United States in 1995, the X Games attracts some of the world’s best athletes, who compete for prizes at summer and winter versions of the competition, which is broadcast in about 200 countries.
More than 100 participants will compete in Chiba and up to 90,000 spectators are expected to attend the three-day competition.
“I can’t hide my surprise and excitement,” said Skateboarder Sakura Yosozumi, a gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics. “I never thought I’d see the day when it would be held in Japan.”
