M4.9 Earthquake Hits Japan’s Noto Peninsula; No Tsunami Expected

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa prefecture at 9:52 a.m. on Saturday. Its epicenter was in the sea off the prefecture. No tsunami is expected, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The temblor measured an intensity of 3 on the Japanese seismic scale of 7 in Nanao, Wajima Hakui, Shika and Nakanoto in the prefecture.
These municipalities in the peninsula were hit by the magnitude-7.6 New Year’s Day earthquake.
