M5.0 quake jolts Kanto, Tohoku regions; no tsunami expected

A magnitude 5.0 quake jolted the Kanto and Tohoku regions early Wednesday evening, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
No tsunami is expected, according to the agency. The epicenter was in southern Ibaraki Prefecture and the focus was 50 kilometers deep.
Northern Ibaraki Prefecture marked an intensity of upper 5 on the Japanese seismic scale of 7.
