Sugiyama (former Japanese Ambassador to the United States), Bonji Ohara (Senior Fellow of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation), and Akiko Yamamoto (Associate Professor at the University of the Ryukyus) discussed the importance of the Japan-U.S. security alliance and the reduction of the burden on Okinawans amid growing military tension in East Asia.
