Ukrainian students who fled amid Russia’s brutal invasion hold their hands over their hearts as they listen to the Ukraine national anthem being played during this week’s entrance ceremony at the Japan University of Economics in Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture. The school’s brass band performed the stirring piece, the title of which translates as “Glory and Freedom of Ukraine Has Not Yet Perished,” in a bid to encourage the students, who will study Japanese language and culture over the next year. The university has so far welcomed more than 60 from the embattled Eastern Europe nation.
