Freshman adults
14:01 JST, April 1, 2022
Incoming first-year Waseda University students pose for a photo before their entrance ceremony on Friday in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo. As the revised Civil Code lowering the age of adulthood from 20 to 18 went into effect on the day — also the start of a new academic year — almost all university students are now officially adults. The university plans to urge newly enrolled students to exercise their expanded options in life with greater awareness as grown-ups.
