A doll depicting Tsuyoshi Shinjo, the new manager of the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters and whose nickname is Big Boss, is on display at a shop of traditional Japanese doll maker Kyugetsu Co. in Taito Ward, Tokyo, on Wednesday. The company made dolls featuring “promising leaders” for this year’s lineup for the annual Boys’ Festival on May 5. Dolls depicting Shohei Ohtani, the two-way ballplayer with the Los Angeles Angels; Sota Fujii, the youngest shogi player to hold five major titles; and sumo wrestler Mitakeumi, who was promoted to ozeki after winning the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament, are also on display.
