TAKAMATSU — Pine bonsai trees decorated like Christmas trees are being grown in Takamatsu, known for its traditional pine bonsai production.
Myoko Co., a Takamatsu-based bonsai company, started mail-order sales of the unusual Christmas trees three years ago, which have gained a following.
The company used a five-needle pine tree for the bonsai. The about 30-centimeter-tall tree is decorated with bells, miniature presents and snow made of cotton.
They are easy to care for, even for beginners, the company said.
