Bear Spotted in Machida, Tokyo

A bear was spotted at the Nature Factory Tokyo Machida youth facility in Machida, Tokyo on the morning of Oct. 18, Machida City has announced. The facility suspended cabin and tent stays through tomorrow.
According to the city, at around 8:00 a.m., a person strolling along the trail saw a bear approximately 90 cm in length. The bear fled into the mountains and no human casualties or damage to crops have been confirmed.
According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Bureau of Environment, there have been approximately 110 reports of bear sightings in Tokyo since April this year, including in Okutama and Hinohara.
