Tokyo logged 8,529 new cases of novel coronavirus infection Thursday, up 4,908 from the same day last week and marking the 20th consecutive day of week-on-week increases.
“We can probably say the seventh wave of the outbreak has started,” Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike said.
