The Takayama float is pulled in Kyotamba, Kyoto Prefecture, in a dry run for the Gion Matsuri Festival in Kyoto City in July. It will be the first appearance in 196 years for the float, which is scheduled to appear in processions on July 24. Overall, 34 floats will appear in the parades, which had been suspended from 2020 due to the pandemic. About 50 people slowly pulled and rotated the Takayama float in different directions on Wednesday, drawing cheers from others who had gathered to watch.
