The penguins at Asahiyama Zoo in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, pass visitors during a stroll on Friday, ahead of the official start of the “Penguin Walk,” an annual winter event held as a means of giving the penguins a chance for much-needed exercise.

Twice a day, at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., the penguins will line up and waddle on the snow past delighted onlookers. The walks will continue through mid-March, except when the zoo is closed for the New Year holidays.
