Free coronavirus tests will be offered at 117 locations including major train stations and airports during the Obon holiday from Aug. 5-18, the government announced Tuesday.
The government is encouraging travelers to take simple qualitative antigen tests before and after trips in an effort to prevent the spread of the virus — especially among elderly people, who are likely to become seriously ill if they get infected.
People aged 10 or older are eligible for the testing at 77 stations including Tokyo and Shin-Osaka stations, 38 airports including Haneda Airport and Chubu Centrair International Airport and two highway rest areas.
The list of testing sites is available on the government’s pandemic information website in Japanese only(https://corona.go.jp/free_inspection/ )
