Tokyo confirmed 9,482 new cases of infection with the novel coronavirus on Sunday, a 150% increase from the previous week. There has now been an increase from the same day of the previous week for 23 consecutive days.
Oita Prefecture reported 668 new cases on Sunday, rising from 641 cases on Saturday and setting a new record for the third consecutive day.
