Tokyo logs over 17,000 virus cases

The Tokyo metropolitan government confirmed 17,631 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday, hitting a record high for the fourth consecutive day.
The daily tally in the capital was up 7,932 from a week earlier.
Osaka Prefecture logged 10,013 new cases on the same day, seeing its figure exceed 10,000 for the first time.
In Aichi Prefecture, there were 5,267 new cases, marking its all-time high for the fourth day in a row.
