Tokyo confirmed 1,223 new coronavirus cases Sunday, up 1,139 from a week earlier and the daily count topped 1,200 for the second straight day.
In Okinawa Prefecture, there were 1,533 new cases on Sunday. The number for the previous day was a record-high 1,759.
