A man in 30s first in Japan to be confirmed infected with omicron variant

A man in his 30s who had spent time in the southern African country of Namibia was confirmed to be infected with the omicron variant of the novel coronavirus after testing positive for coronavirus infection on Sunday at Narita Airport, according to sources. It is the first time the omicron variant infection, which has been found in countries such as South Africa, has been confirmed in Japan.
