Asukayama Monorail in Tokyo: Free to Ride!
17:16 JST, October 11, 2024
This is a short video of the Asukayama Monorail. It runs between just outside the central gate of JR Oji Station and the top of the hill, and anyone can ride it for free.
It covers a height difference of about 18 meters in 2 minutes, and is fully air-conditioned and wheelchair and stroller accessible. The shape of the vehicle is similar to a snail, so it is called “Asukargo”.
At the top of the Asukayama, there are parks and museums, as well as a tram that used to run in central Tokyo and a steam locomotive on display.
